Sorting Question

In excel, sorting a table of stock tickers and prices is simple.

But I can't figure out the best way to do this in EViews.

I usually put data into tables or matrices during the course of running a program.

To my knowledge, tables are not easy to sort and resort, and matrices can't hold strings (like tickers).

So my question is what is the best way to store a list of stock tickers (text) with related data (numbers) so that the data "stays with" the tickers.

It seems like neither tables nor matrices are built for this, or I am missing something entirely.
