FRED connection error in Eviews 10

Postby ghammond » Tue Aug 17, 2021 12:03 pm

I have not been able to fetch data from FRED since yesterday. The error message is: "The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel".

I'm using Eviews 10. Can you help?

Unfortunately FRED has recently updated their API security settings, rendering their service incompatible with older versions of EViews.

EViews 11 and EViews 12 continue to work with the latest FRED without any issues.

The only solution is to upgrade your version of EViews (which I know is probably not wanted you wanted to hear).

I upgraded to EViews 12, latest version, running on windows server. This is the error I now get when trying to access FRED:

"Database Error: COM library error: "Class not registered"

Please let me know if this is something i can fix

Thanks. I saw this in another post and tried it. I was still getting errors, but i figured out why in the end.
Had some issues with Microsfot's .NET frameowork, and it worked when i repaired it (by re-installing .NET)
