IRF X-Axis meaning

Postby TheConfax » Wed Feb 02, 2022 5:14 pm

When eViews draws Impulse Response Functions, the graph starts at "period" 1. Does this period represent the effect of X on Y during the day of the shock or during the first day after the shock? Is therefore period 3 the third day after the shock or the second? This cannot be found anywhere on the documentation and is crucial to a good analysis.

The first period is the shock. You can confirm this by setting the shock to 1.
