graph issues in eviews 13

I am dealing with 2 graph issues:

1. When pasting a graph into Word/powerpoint, the lines on the graph are "fuzzy" almost like dots. I haven't figured out how to make them solid.
2. My PPT/Word isn't recognizing a saved chart and isn't linking.

Is your copy of EViews 13 up to date? (Help->EViews Update)

Yes. We just loaded it.

I did figure out the "fuzzy" issue. the new Eviews seems to default to the opacity setting being "auto" at 75%. Changing it to 100% fixed the problem.

However, the linking problem has not been resolved.

Could you provide more details on the issue?

I am trying to paste in what I am seeing but it isn't working. Essentially in PPT, when I use "paste special", the "paste link" is greyed out, and the Source is shown as "unknown". I am assuming there is something I need to turn on either in PPT or in eviews but haven't figured it out yet.

What type is the EViews object you are trying to paste (is it always a graph)? Also make sure when you paste as link your workfile is saved/named. If you try to paste as as link an object from UNTITLED workfile then the source (in paste special as link) will be grayed out.

I am aware of that and have named the charts. It's almost like powerpoint doesn't recognize eviews.

Does the update require renaming charts already named and linked?

You can verify if your link (EViews work file location and object) is still valid by doing the following:
1.On Powerpoint open your file
2.On the menu click : File
3.On the left pane click : Info
4.On the bottom of right pane click : Edit links to files
5.You can check if the link is still valid by clicking update link.

I am attaching a screen shot of a link I created.

Here is the fix for future reference.

One of the the "register components" is "com automation & OLE". When we installed the recent EViews 13, that component wasn't registered. Our administrator just registered it and linking has returned.
