RConn library error

Help please on fixing

when trying to read in an .RData file using File/Open/Foreign Data

Do you have R installed? You'll need it if you want to open an RData file. If you do have it, make sure EViews is pointing to the correct R Home directory under Options menu/General Options/External program interface.

Updating the R home directory fixed it.

R gets updated fairly regularly. Makes me wonder whether there could be an option to look in the registry or somewhere and find the current version, if that's what someone wanted.

We do look in the registry to try and find a default R home directory. But we don't do that if you already have a value filled in.

My thought is a user-settable option saying to look in the registry. Probably best not the default.
