Percentile of the Mean

Postby Avwokeni » Tue Nov 24, 2020 12:49 am

The percentile of the median is 50. This means that if the median of a
distribution were 66, then 50 percent of the observations are 66 and below.
However, the percentile of the mean value is not readily known. To ask,
suppose the mean of a distribution were 74, what is the equivalent
percentile? Could someone help with the syntax to calculate the percentile
of the mean?

Obvious, if not slick, method is simply:

Code: Select all

smpl if x<=@mean(x)
scalar mypercentile = @obssmpl/@obsrange*100

:lol: It works, but not so obvious as you remarked. Many thanks
