Re: RecShade (add US recession shading)
Hi Gareth,
Looking a bit more carefully at the Japanese ESRI website I just saw that the latest recession-dating memo was published in June 2010 (the one I had provided the reference of was much older). The dates can be found in here: http://www.esri.cao.go.jp/en/stat/di/100607rdates.html
I would please ask you to update the add-in when you have a minute, this might be more efficient. Let me know if you think otherwise.
Regards,
Javier

Re: RecShade (add US recession shading)
May I know the references used in determining the recession periods?

Re: RecShade (add US recession shading)
Hi guys,
Total newb here. This add-in, however, looks fantastic and is potentially really very useful. However, for some reason, I have encountered some trouble in actually getting it to work. After I download and install the file, I install it, open a series, view it as a graph, but it doesnt appear in the 'add-ins' option under Proc; 'No addins exist for this option'. Nor does it work after i enter the 'manage add-ins' option, ("recshade\recshade.prg"), changing the menu/procedure to 'Graph Proc'.
When i change it to a 'global command', the option appears in the global toolbar under addins, as 'Add US Recession Shading'.
Any help? Using Eviews 7.1 Standard Edition. I have managed to get other addins (Zauroot, for example - VERY VERY USEFUL!) to work, but not this.
Sincerest thanks

Re: RecShade (add US recession shading)
You need to have a graph object. When looking at the graph view of a series, hit the Freeze button to make a graph object, then look at the Add-ins menu.

Re: RecShade (add US recession shading)
Dear,
I m working on UK recession data.
I have used Composite Leading Indicator(CLI) of OECD to define the recession data.
Can someone let me if it is possible to use RecShade on UK data.
Or if not possible than how can I make an addin with UK data?
thanks
Sohan

If you open up the add-in file, you should see that it is pretty straight forward to change the dates.

Re: RecShade (add US recession shading)
Dears,
Good Day,
I am using Markov switching regression and want Recshade. I follow the steps but the shaded area doesn't coincide my data. I failed to put the correct US recession shading for my case. for your reference, attached is the shaded area for my data (which I thought it is not generated from my data rather from the USA data).
In my work: I run MS regression-view-regime results-regime probability-filtered/smooth-freeze-proc-add in-US recession shading.
I follow the steps but the shaded area doesn't coincide my data. I need your help and guidance to do so.
Regards

Re: RecShade (add US recession shading)
On a quick glance, the shaded areas look like the U.S. recession dates. What's wrong with them?
Re: RecShade (add US recession shading)
After updating to eviews12, this addin keeps giving me an "error in sample: range error" It worked fine before the update. I updated the addin but nothing has worked.
