Upgrading License to Eviews 11
If we upgrade the eView license server to EViews11, can existing user whose PC are installed with EViews10 still can access while we upgrading the software to Eviews11 for them? Do we need to uninstall the previous version first before installing the latest version for client PC?

10 users will be able to connect to the server.
You do not need to uninstall.

Hi Gareth. Thanks for the reply. So what is the purpose on providing the patch?

The license server patch was originally released with EViews 10. If you already have EViews 10 users using your license server successfully, you don't need to re-patch your license server in order to work with EViews 11.

Re: Upgrading License to Eviews 11
If our Eviews are still on version 9, we need to install version 10 in order to upgrade to version 11? Does it means the same for the server?

Thanks for the reply, Gareth. So that means I could upgrade the server and local copy from version 9 to 11, without the installation and by running the .exe files?

Re: Upgrading License to Eviews 11
To be clear, you need to be running EViews License Manager version 1.5 on your license server in order to support EViews 10 and 11 serials. That's what our license manager patch does.
The patch will upgrade your license server in-place and leave any serial numbers already registered intact. If you run this patch while users are using EViews, they may see a notice that the license server has shutdown -- but if you restart it (which you'll have to do manually after installing the patch) quickly, then your users won't notice anything and shouldn't be forced to quit EViews.
Once your license server is updated, you can register your EViews 10 & 11 serials onto the license server. These serials are different from your 9 serial so it won't affect your 9 serial at all. Once these serials are registered, you can update your users to EViews 10 (or 11) and point them to the same license server.
By the way, to check the version number of your license server, run the license management console, right-click the server name in the left tree, then click Properties. This dialog will show the version number. If you go to the Help menu and select About EViews Management Console, this only shows you the version of the console software itself (which is currently 1.3).

Re: Upgrading License to Eviews 11
Hi,
I am having some trouble with Eviews 12 and the license manager. Eviews 12 can initially connect to LM but then it fails. Eviews 11 still works.
The concurrent serial numbers are the same for eviews 10, 11 and 12. Our LM version is 1.5.1
Please help!
thank you
