Hello everyone,
I am using EViews 12 University Edition (paid), and I would like to know whether the student version can do an integration of EViews with R program? As far as I have read on EViews Tutorial, help site, for older versions of EViews there was a possibility of R program interface by checking the REGCOMPONENTS function on command line. However, when I type it on the command bar it says "REGCOMPONENTS is not defined or is an illegal command." Could you help me sort this issue? And when I type xopen(type=r) it doesn't show anything.

Do you have R installed?

I do. Both R and R Studio

EViews 12 student version does not have access to external program interfaces, such as MATLAB, R, & Python. It also doesn't have any external components that require registration, which is why REGCOMPONENTS doesn't work on it.

The University Edition does.

I am actually using University Edition, but it keeps giving me the same error. Can you help me figure out the problem?

Please provide a screenshot of your EViews About dialog. Also, provide a screenshot of the error you're experiencing.

I have attached the screenshots of About EViews and the errors. I thought maybe my series has expired (which expires in February) still purchased a new one and updated my serial number.

Ah, I see now. The Mac version doesn't support external program interfaces, so XOPEN, XCLOSE, & XRUN are not available. And since component registration is specific to Windows, REGCOMPONENTS isn't available either.

Please use EViews 12 University Edition for Windows instead. If you need help moving your license to a new machine (or virtual machine), please email your serial number to support@eviews.com and refer to this forum posting.
