installation issue

Postby wilshire » Thu Mar 05, 2020 10:28 am

I have a problem with installation:

I ran the Eviews.exe to try and get it to uninstall. The same .exe is used for install and uninstall. I get a prompt asking if I want to uninstall, but when it tries to run I get a message that the uninstall can only be run if the software is installed.

It seems like the earlier uninstall ran, but failed for some reason. There is no product code in the registry and most of the files are gone, but there is something which makes the installer think Eviews is there.

do you have any suggestions?

Sometimes if our installer doesn't finish installing EViews completely on your first try, then you can get stuck in a loop if you try to install it again.

The best solution is to clear your registry of our installer settings - but in order to do that I'll have to send you a specific Windows REG file for your specific installer. So let me know what the name of your EViews installer executable is and I'll send you a link to the correct REG file.

Ah, sorry about that. Here's the link.

Download the zip file to your desktop, extract the 64-bit REG file, then double-click it to run it. You'll have to allow the REG file to make changes to your Windows registry. Once the changes have been entered, you should be able to re-run the EViews 11 64-bit installer again.

If you continue to run into issues, please email support@eviews.com along with your serial number and reference this forum post.
