Re: remove cross sections from panel

Thanks for offering to take a look. I just need to check if the data in the file is OK to distribute.

Re: remove cross sections from panel

OK, I did that. I now no longer get an error message; however, the unwanted cross-sections are still present in my workfile.

Re: remove cross sections from panel

Thanks for your reply. I tried "<>" also, but got the error message "Error in Sample: Numeric operator applied to string data". That is why I tried replacing "<>" with " not ".

remove cross sections from panel

Hello, I am using EViews version 7.2. I have a balanced panel workfile with annual data from 1990 to 2002 and 44 cross sections (572 observations). The cross sections are identified with words rather than numbers. I would like to run an estimation with 6 of the cross sections removed. I tried going ...

serial correlation in panel data model

Hello, I am estimating a panel (balanced) least squares model with cross section fixed effects in EViews 7. I have 44 cross sections and 13 time periods. Serial correlation is indicated by running the following estimation on the residuals: residual = c + residual(t-1) + residual(t-2). The coefficien...

Re: "near singular matrix" when add dummy to fixed effects m

Sorry, still a little confused...I thought the dummy variable trap was when your dummy variables sum to 1 (i.e. are mutually exclusive), as would be the case with cross section fixed effects unless one of the cross section dummies is removed (I understand EViews does this automatically), or when you...

"near singular matrix" when add dummy to fixed effects model

Hello, I am estimating a panel (balanced) least squares model with cross section fixed effects. My cross sections refer to census divisions and I would like to include a dummy variable that is equal to 1 for northern census divisions and 0 for all other census divisions. However, when I do this I ge...
