Re: Dummy Variables
've been given a question to complete as part of my Econometrics class. So far I have this equation, which I know to be correct: NETTFA=C(1)+C(2)*E401K+C(3)*INC+C(4)*INC^2+C(5)*AGE+C(6)*AGE^2+C(7)*E401K*(AGE-41)+C(8)*E401K*(AGE-41)^2 Now, the question asks me to define five family size dummy variabl...

Dummy Variables
I have a dataset, let's call it x, which contains a number of integers: 1,2,3,4, and 5+. I need to create dummy variables, of X size, 1, 2 , 3, 4 and the rest of grouped into one.
Hope I've explained well enough, how do I about creating this in eviews?

OLS with quadratics
I'm trying to run the regression: nettfa=c(1)+c(2)*x+c(3)y+c(4)y^2+c(5)*z+c(6)*z^2 The regression runs but I get NA for the values of the coefficients and t-values etc. Is there anything wrong with my equation? For the quadratics, I only have datasets labelled z and y. Do I need to create new data s...

Re: Hypothesis test
You need to compare the t-value to the significant value you are using, this is normally taken from a table, including degrees of freedom. 7 is very high value so you can reject the null hypothesis. Hope this helps

I'm very new to Eviews, how do I open a group window with them? I currently have open a window that appears after running an OLS regression.

Testing correlation between variables
I'm using OLS to estimate the model below :
X=C(1)+C(2)*Y+C(3)*Z
How do I test the correlation between Y and Z?
X=C(1)+C(2)*Y+C(3)*Z
How do I test the correlation between Y and Z?

New User, some basic help to get started
Hi, I've just using eviews for some work I have been given by my university. I've used other statitics software but finding this one has a steep learning curve and so any help will be greatly appreciated. Just two things to get me started, I have a workfile which includes spreadsheet of people per h...
