Re: Structuring a workfile with non-unique values
Ok, I've attached part of the data file. Hopefully you can see what I mean now.
I think I could use pageunstack if the dates contained in 'record_dates' were unique to each of the transaction types contained in the alpha series called 'seriesname'. But they're not, so I can't.
Any thoughts?

Structuring a workfile with non-unique values
Hi there. I’m looking for some help with converting a large panel of data that has non unique date identifies into a set of timeseries. I can’t post the datafile right now so I’ll describe it as best I can. I have a set of observations, each belongs to a category, has a date attached to it, and a tr...

Re: Apply ranks from one matrix to another
Sorry, forgot to mention that I'm running EViews 11.

Apply ranks from one matrix to another
Hi there, I'm wondering if there's a quick way to sort the elements of a one matrix according to another? I currently have two matrices, one containing rates of change for a class of variable (rows = date of observation, columns = variable) and the other containing the weights that apply to each of ...

Re: Continuing a program if solve fails to converge
Matt - thanks very much. This is perfect. It has worked a treat.
I assume I can use the same approach to alter the convergence threshold too, if required? i.e. if convergence fails at one level, I can repeat with a lower convergence criteria?
Thanks again.

Continuing a program if solve fails to converge
Hi there, I'm trying to run a program that applies the same model of simultaneous equations to data for a large number of companies. But there are a small number for which 'solve' fails to converge on a solution, ending the program. I've played around with various convergence criteria and so on, but...

Thanks, Gareth.
I'll give that a go. Really appreciate the speedy response.

Kernel density data from a vector
Hi there, I'm trying to do something that I think should be relatively simple, but can't work out how to do it. Very grateful for any help. I have a long vector of data, which I'm trying to transform into a kernel density distribution. I can plot a kernel density chart without any problem, but can't...

Re: Datastream "logged out" everyday
Hi there,
I'm having the same problem as the user above, and have tried the solutions suggested but without any success.
I've set up my PC to run a series of programs overnight, and this issue is causing it to fail. Do you have any more thoughts on why this could be happening?
Thanks.

Re: Count of observations falling within a range
Thanks for your reply, Gareth, but it hasn't done the trick. I'm getting an error that '@OBSSMP is an illegal or reserved name in "SCALAR NUM = @OBSSMP" ' (I'm using Eviews 11). Also (and, sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear enough in my original post), I want to return the number of observation...

Count of observations falling within a range
Hi there, I was hoping for some help. I have a large number of monthly time series, for which I've been trying to work out how to extract a count of the observations that sit within a given range for each month. To be more specific, they're all monthly percent changes in the various sub-components o...
