Re: Addins and logging

The log closes when the program is called from an add-in. E.g., my add-in installer program had this command: addin(menu="Run project...", desc="Runs the project.", version="0.1") .\run_project.prg And it's the log for run_project that would close after run_project.prg ...

Working with @UIDialog

I have found the @uidialog function quite cumbersome to work with so I came up with a slightly more manageable subroutine. subroutine add_dialog_item(string %DIALOG, string %TYPE, string %IOVAR, string %PROMPT, string %OPTION_LIST, scalar !MAX_EDIT_LENGTH) ' Adds a dialog item to a string dialog spe...

DB Fetch names and replacement var conflicts

We have some general purpose routines that fetch a user-specified list of variables from a database. Unfortunately some of the variables in the database can have the % character in them, which leads to some undesirable conflicts with program variables: %A = "some unrelated variable" %VAR_T...

Re: Subroutine Local Program Vars

Tricky to implement the hybrid approach between local subroutines and local variables. Of course in your trivial examples, local subroutines will do what you want, but presumably your actual code is a tad more complicated. Thanks. Yes, more complicated although not necessarily that much more compli...

Subroutine Local Program Vars

Any chance we will get program variables scoped locally to a subroutine in a future EViews release? One source of bugs in our more complicated EViews programs is where strings or scalars defined in one subroutine nameclash with the same name defined in a subroutine that it calls. Example: logmode l ...

Re: failed to initialize EViewsPyConn

We found the problem with Python 3.10. It will be fixed in the next EViews 12 patch. I'm also having this problem and can't use xopen(p) Two questions: Was this fix rolled out? We are currently on Feb 4, 2021 build of EViews 12. Due to my company's IT policy, rolling to newer versions can lag relea...

Prompt for a folder a location

I see there is @uifiledlg but I don't see a way to restrict it to a destination folder rather than a file. Is there a way to do this?

VS Code Language Extension for EViews

Hi, In my personal time, I've been working on a VS Code language extension for EViews that when complete will support syntax highlighting, intellisense, and some basic command line interaction with EViews that I would be happy to open source. Would EViews have any interest in being the publisher of ...

Force re-estimation programmatically?

I'm doing some backtesting stuff with linked equations a model object. I want to re-estimate some of the equations on a specified sample. I know I can do smpl %start %end myequation.ls without any arguments to ls and it will re-estimate the current equation but that presupposes all of my equations a...

Annotated Lists

Hi, I am writing a program that assembles a list of variables that I use to extract series from an external source. As an example, suppose my code looks like this %vars = _ "GDP " + _ "CPI " + _ "UNEMP" As I am adding to and removing from this list on a regular basis an...
