Hey everyone,
I'm very new and need some advice.
My problem is that I have two workfiles, one with the firm performance (tobin's q) including firm size, leverage ratio, sales growth and capex. my other workfile contains certain CEO characteristics (e.g. age, tenure, gender, tenure (startdate & enddate)). Now Im trying to do a regression analysis. But it won't let me calculate it because I have two workfiles and not one. I even tried copying and linking them. But since the start date of ceo's is different irregular it wont let me. What am I doing wrong?
If there is already thread to this question, could you just leave a link? I'm sorry if this is already a thread but I couldn't find anything.
Thank you very much.

Re: Regression Analysis
Abstract away EViews and think how the observations from one data set line up with the observations in the other. Once you've figured that out, we can help you set it up in EViews.

Re: Regression Analysis
What ties a row in one of the workfiles with a row in the other? How are the observations (firms?) connected?

Re: Regression Analysis
They are connected/tied through the company name. (I'm sorry, I feel so stupid).

Re: Regression Analysis
You probably want to make two different workfile pages and then link them by company name. A place to get started is http://www.eviews.com/help/helpintro.html#page/content/links-Basic_Link_Concepts.html
