Upgrading to Version 8

We are currently using Eviews 7. we have 30 licenses split 15/15 on two licensing servers. I have a few questions about upgrading to version 8:
1) Are our current V7 licenses compatable with the V8 client? Can we install the V8 client and use our existing licenses?
2) If not can we have both V7 and V8 licenses on the licensing server at the same time and upgrade our clients over time? Would the server still manage our license regardless if a V7 or V8 client connects?
3) What would the process be to upgrade? How would we get new licenses if needed?
4) Does the Eviews Licensing Manager need to be upgraded?

No, you must get an EViews 8 license for use with EViews 8 clients.

Yes, your license server already supports both V7 and V8 licenses -- you can add the new EViews 8 serial to it without issue. Once the new license is added, it is treated as a completely separate license and is not affected by your EViews 7 license already on the system. If your 7 license allows 15 users, then most likely your 8 upgrade license will also allow 15 users as well -- even though this effectively doubles your user limits, our upgrade license is not meant to do this. We expect upgrade licenses to only be used by the same group of users that used the previous EViews 7 license.

3) What would the process be to upgrade? How would we get new licenses if needed?

Email us at sales@eviews.com and provide your current EViews 7 license information and mention that you'd like to know what your upgrade options are. If/When you get EViews 8, you will be getting new serial number(s) via email, plus download links for the new License Manager and EViews 8 client.

4) Does the EViews Licensing Manager need to be upgraded?

No. However, there is a newer version available that supports possible future enhancements to our licensing system (though no enhancements are currently being used). If you do chose to upgrade, you can just upgrade the current installation in-place and the new server will remain backwards compatible with your EViews 7 licenses. Your users shouldn't notice any difference.
