Three bugs in one

Postby startz » Mon Dec 04, 2017 11:10 am

The attached picture illustrates three bugs of varying levels of seriousness. Here's what I did.
1. Ran a regression, saved the residuals, graphed them.
2. Changed the title on the graph.
3. Froze the graph.
4. Ran the NBER recession shading add-in on the frozen graph.

The alert you see popped up.

There are three issues here.
A. Why the heck did I get an alert? I wasn't trying to close anything and I hadn't added any text objects since freezing the graph.
B. Note that the last line in the alert is being censored.
C. EViews had opened the frozen graph with the bottom outside the window. Surely this could be better positioned.

A. That error is meant to inform you that the title you added to the residual graph in the equation window (prior to freezing) will be lost. This should appear when the view on the equation has been changed or if the equation is closed. Of course this doesn't happen when I try to replicate the issue.

B. Will get fixed

C. Will look into

I did it a couple of times before reporting it.

Of course, there's a lot of code in EViews that looks to see if I'm the user and then does strange things.
