Database Error: Bloomberg library error: 'String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.'

Postby kszynkar » Thu Sep 28, 2017 4:12 am

Hi,

I have the following code that ran in a program, and in a workfile page with a quarterly frequency:

Code: Select all

dbopen(type=bloom) Index
close Index
pageselect Quarterly
fetch RAPTUSME

Previously it ran correctly, but now it generates the following error:
Database Error: Bloomberg library error: 'String was not
recognized as a valid DateTime.' in "FETCH RAPTUSME".

I have EViews 10. This code use to work on my current version, but mysteriously stopped working.

What is your EViews 10 build date (select Help->About EViews)?

The Bloomberg servers sometimes returns different results for the dates. The most recent 10 patch has a fix which should resolve the issue.

Hello. Getting the same error while trying to retrieve data from Bloomberg.
Updated to Oct 3rd build of 9.5 Enterprise. The code got further than before, but then gave the same error further down the list of variables.
Currently unable to pull stuff off the government bond yield portion. For example "GTDEM10Y Govt" does show up if I browse the database, but won't copy over to the workfile or show any data when double-clicked.

In short:
Something like this didn't work before the update and now works:
fetch(m) "cngdpqoq index"

This still does not work:
fetch(m) "gtdem10y govt"
Resulting in the same error of :
Database Error: Bloomberg library error: 'String was not
recognized as a valid DateTime.'.

Thanks!

Yep, Bloomberg are still playing with their servers. We've updated EViews 10, which should now work. The next patch of 9 will fix it too (unless they change something again!). No ETA on when we'll release a 9 patch yet - it gets updated a lot less frequently than 10.

so far so good. The error before was a bit random/inconsistent.

Thanks for the help
