Student Version

Postby ClintonGreene » Tue Mar 27, 2012 3:08 pm

I use Eviews in teaching introductory undergraduate time series. I have students use simulations to investigate the impact of misspecification, asymptotics, and data-mining. As part of their semester projects they are expected to provide programs which show any data transformations, and to write programs to generate forecasts. But they have to be on campus to use our site license for programming. Buying the student version will not help them, since the student version allows only the interactive mode.

It would be very useful if the student version differed from the full version by being time limited rather than limited in features. If it is too difficult to construct a version with a license that expires at some date, then perhaps creating a version accessed only on the web (requiring a password which would expire) would be a second-best approach.

Perhaps a better model would be for you to suggest they buy the stand-alone version of EViews. This is a full version of EViews that any member of staff, or any enrolled student can purchase from us at a price of $90 as long as the university currently has an up to date site license (of any size) of EViews.

This is great news, we have a site license. Is there a way for our bookstore to carry this item, or do students need to order direct from Eviews?

Great news. How can I purchase this version? What is the email address of contact?
