When will EViews 8 Student version be available? It is still EViews 7 on the ordering page.

We have no date set in mind. Usually the student version comes out at least one year after the full release.

Is it correct then therefore that the only current option for students wishing to purchase a copy of EViews 8 is to purchase an academic license of the standard edition?

Yes, although you should note that if your university has a current site license (of any size), any student can purchase their own personal copy of the full version for $100, which is considerably less than the standard academic price.
