Panel data split sample

Postby Jorgen » Fri Apr 10, 2015 4:10 am

Hey guys,

I'm a real Eviews-noob and am currently stuck with my panel data set. My dependent variable is R&D-intensity and my sample goes from 2005 to 2013. Now I want to test if my dependent variable has a significant difference in the period 2008-2010. I want this to be checked against the periods 2005-2007 and 2011-2013. I am trying everything but it's impossible (for me) to compare them. Is there anyone out here who can guide me?

Kind regards,
Jorgen

You'll have to provide more details on exactly what you're trying to do.

I'm trying to look if the financial crisis (2008-2010) had an impact on the R&D-intensity in companies. Therefore I thought I would check the mean of R&D-intensity in the periods 2005-2007, 2008-2010 and 2011-2013 and see if there's a significant difference between them.

Set the sample to be 2005 2007, open up the R&D series and click on View->Descriptive Statistics->Stats Table, and look at the mean.
Now set the sample to be 2008 2010 and do the same thing.
