Setting up dated panel regression - EViews 8

Hi,

I am trying to set up a dated panel regression on EViews 8, using data imported from excel. This is my first time using EViews so I could be making a very simple mistake without realising. When I try to set the Cross section ID series as 'Company' and the Date series as 'IPO Date', I get the error message "Illegal panel structure IPO_DATE is nested within COMPANY.

I have seen other users posting similar problems but haven't been able to make much sense of the responses! Any help with this would be much appreciated!

You do not have a panel. You do not have multiple dates for your cross-sections. Each company only has one date associated with it. That is not a panel.
