I've recently been playing around with the FRED database tool and I've even implemented it into some teaching which is great - students really seem find it useful for their projects. However, recently I wrote a script to try and download a block of data based on the 'tickers' (identifiers) of the series, and while I had setmaxerrs high, i still observed several thousand of the following messages:

I have no qualms with the notion that a very large number (my estimate is about 10% of the database maybe) of the 220k available series may be copyrighted and not available for download (which seems a lot) - but my question is: why does EViews give the error message "is one of 6 copyrighted series" when there are clearly more than six?
