Probem with Haver - data description has disappeared

Postby griff » Fri Oct 25, 2013 3:16 pm

Dear Eviews - when I use hfetch in Eviews8 the description has disappeared

when I run hfetch(\\...\eudata) j184expp

Under eviews7 in the label view of j184expp the description and displayname were:
Spain: Nat Curr Price Index: Exports of Goods and Services (SWDA, 2005=100)

Under eviews8 i just get the country number 184 for description and displayname

This is a problem because one of the advantages of using eviews and hfetch was i could easily document my series and their definitions

Am using the July 26 2013 build - has it been fixed since?
hope you can help
thank you Mark

Unfortunately, we cannot replicate the problem. I would try updating your copy of EViews via help->EViews update.

If that does not fix the problem please send your Haver database file to support@eviews.com.

Hi, I have a similar problem with Hfetch

When I do this:
Open Spain
Fetch [series]
Close Spain
I get the series with the metadata from the haver data base 'Spain'

But when I do this:
hfetch(h:\dlx\spain) [Series]
I get the series but not the meta data.

That does seem a bit odd and irritating. Can you help?
I am on Eviews 10+ May 15 2018 Build

hfetch is very outdated and no longer supported - is there a reason you can't use fetch?

No, I hadn't realised I could specify the haver data base name in fetch command.
Thanks
