conversion of alpha series to numeric series
hi. actually i am havin a bit of problem with alpha series.I am supposed to do a regression on a set of values.and the data i imported from excel are all in numeric form..but 2 sets of data after i import into eveiws it became alpha series and could not be regressed with the other datasets.so is there any way to rectify it or how could i convert alpha series into numeric series?Thanks

You can use the @val function to convert from a alpha to a numerical series.
However if EViews has read it in as an alpha, its likely that there is something odd/strange about the data, and using @val might not work all that well.

erm..now i change my data and it came up with en error displaying'near singular matrix'..any recommendations to remedy it ?

You've entered a redundant series. Most often, this comes from using a complete set of dummies plus a constant.
