Hi all,
I am using EViews8, and I am modelling VAR. Basically, I am following a methodology found in the literature to forecast crude oil prices, and one of the proposed endogenous variables is a proxy for the change in global crude oil inventories. The authors suggest scaling U.S. crude oil inventories by the ratio (OECD petroleum inventories over U.S. petroleum inventories). So, I have got the first variable (U.S. oil inverntories), and I have calculated the ratio. How do I scale this data? Does anyone know what was meant by the authors, and how do I scale the first variable by that ratio in EViews?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Re: Scaling Data
I mean what is the code to scale one variable by another variable? How can we scale data in EViews?

I mean combining two different variables with different scales (one measured in million barrels, another one is a ratio) to compute a new variable. Is there any command to do something similar?

Re: Scaling Data
Explain what you mean, in detail. Ideally using math.
