HELLO,
I have questions regarding building a value map.
I have a series that includes SIC/NAICS code for each observation and I want to build a value map for SIC/NAICS code to the corresponding abbreviation of the industry name. So that series would show simple industry name instead of the code.
I have a value map in excel form and trying to make it to a map object.
(1) is there a direct way to import the excel file as a value map object?
(2) when I copy and paste manually, EVIEWS 9.5 keeps shutting down. Is it because the data map I have exceed the limit of max obs in the value map? I have about 2000 values for the SIC/NAICS code. If so, what is the limit and can it be fixed?
Thanks,
BC

Re: VALUE MAP IMPORT AND LIMIT
I tried creating a valmap that had over 2000 elements in it and it created just fine in EViews 9.
If you provide the excel file here, I might be able to reproduce the error. I have a feeling the error might be related to a particular value that is too long?

HAHA, that's so weird.
When I do it today, it works.Maybe I was having other big work files opened last time.
Thank you so much!
