panel data

Postby sese » Thu Aug 25, 2016 12:59 pm

Hello,

I am trying to import my data which is in excel into e-views and I want it in panel data format. My data is in the attached file. E-views automatically classifies it as "unstructured undated panel". Through going to "Proc" and "Structure/Resize Current Page" I would like to change my data to "dated panel". I write "no" in the cross section ID series and "year" in Date Series. After this the following window opens: "Indices do not uniquely identify observations. 4 duplicate date(s) found. Create CELLID series to identify observations". Once I say yes to this, a new window opens up: Adding CELLID as the inner index will create a 3 dimension unbalanced undated panel.

Could you please tell me how I can import the attached data into dated panel in e-views?

Thank you very much

You probably have errors in the Excel file.

A quick look indicates that NO 4007 has two year 2011 rows, for example.

Thank you Gareth,

I solved my first problem. Now I can see the dated panel. However now, all my values that I could see in excel came up as NA in e-views.

Could you also please help me solve this problem?

thanks a lot
