Specifying indicators for frequency conversion

Postby Andrew25 » Mon Jul 04, 2016 4:30 am

Hi!
I have an annual series for GDP which I would like transform into quarterly series. I have prepared two indicator series for the frequency conversion, however, when using Chow-Lin match-sum method, which should accommodate two indicator series, I get error message that specified indicator series does not exist. I am using Copy-And-Paste Special approach and in the indicator dialog I write: i1(first indicator) i2 (second indicator). Shall I place some separator between i1 and i2 so that Eviews can distinguish them?

Currently we only support a single indicator.

Hi,

I have one question regarding the conversion from annual to quarterly data. I have done all the process, and exported the data to an excel file, however, for each variable i have few missing values marked as NA. Could You please tell how can I fix this problem? Attached is the excel file, with the yearly data in the first sheet.

Thank you,
Ilda

So, I converted yearly to quarterly data and the result could be seen in the first above attached file named pokusaj. When You open it, you can see how the first rows of all variables do not contain values but it says NA.

Attached is the screenshot of what I mean.

I am interested if there is any option in Eviews that i can use to get ALL the yearly data converted to quarterly, without getting these NA rows as a result, but the real numbers?

Thanks for a quick response,
Ilda

You have NAs in your quarterly data. You want to convert those NAs into annual data, but magically not get NAs for the annuals?

It's not about the conversion from quarterly to annual at all, but the opposite ...

My annual data contain real numbers (as it could be seen in the above attached excel file named Yearly data). That is my source document. I converted THOSE yearly data to quarterly and got the screenshot above, with NA values. Therefore, my source data (annual) which I converted to quarterly DO NOT contain any NAs.

I hope it is a bit clearer now, if still not, thanks anyway for your time.

best regards

Is there any possibility for You to attach here that workfile with quarterly data You got?

I'm doing it all over again but results are the same..
