When I try to import data from a eviews workfile, I get the following error:
Exception from HRESULT:0x800A03EC
Any idea how to solve that?

There was a fix made to the Excel 2007 add-in that was put in recently in the latest patch. Are you using that add-in or the older one?
In any case, try installing the latest EViews 8 patch to see if that resolves your issue.

Within my organization we get the same response when importing data to Excel 2013 (Version: 14.0.6129.5000).
We use EViews 8 (Enterprise Edition - Aug 27 2013 build).
Workaround : After getting the error message, press the add-in's refresh button to import the data you asked for.
Or... : Just don't use any space characters in the workfiles name.
