Scaled impulse responses

Postby chris67 » Tue Apr 23, 2019 2:33 pm

Hi,

The default IRFs Eviews produces are a 1 SD shock to the impulse variable. Does anyone know how to use the sirf add-in in order to rescale the IRFs to show responses to a 1% shock to the impulse variable?

Any help would be much appreciated!

What was the problem? It is self explanatory if you use the menu driven interface.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

So for the menu driven interface the box 'Scale factor for IRF' how would one go about calculating what value to put in here to translate a 1 SD shock into a 1% shock and then for the box 'Multiplication of standard error' would one then put the same value as the 'Scale factor for IRF' box?

Sorry if this seems like a trivial question but I was a bit confused.

Good day, thank you for the reply.

@chris67 question, did you get an answer for this. I'm also stuck hear. Someone please assist me. The manual and menu driven interface are not as clear as they are made to be or maybe there is something I am missing.
I would like to change the SVAR impulse response function (structural decomposition) from one standard deviation shock to a 1 percent (unit) shock. From reading the forum I found that I could use the sirf add-in but the first 2 sections are confusing me. What determines the values that go in there -
"Scale factor for IRF" and "Multiplication of standard error"?

Thank you in advance

Hello Dakila,
I am using Eviews 10 and I want to save scaled IRFs in matrix form. I know there is the scale IRF add-in, however I do not know how to store the results in a matrix. Is there code available or some other way to do it?
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

I will try to add the option to save it.

The sirf add-in is updated. It includes option to save the IRF to matrix.
