end-of-life for Get Stocks add-in and possible other methods?

Postby rod_jensen » Fri Jan 26, 2018 6:21 pm

Hello:

I had a created and regularly used an EViews program based on the EViews add-in "GetStocks". Unfortunately, Yahoo pulled down its "http://ichart.finance.yahoo.com" functionality, leaving the add-in without a data-source. I realize my version of EViews is fairly dated (even though that particular program and others I use still work, or at least used to work, just fine). I have v. 7.1 Enterprise. The version shouldn't be an issue here, and I don't believe it is. Support of the version by EViews is another question.

Does anyone know if another similar add-in or similar method (applied within an EViews program) exists? If you do happen to know of a comparable method, would you consider sharing it? If you would, I'd be most appreciative. I've looked at the Quandl add-in, but it just doesn't seem as tidy and manageable/flexible.

Sincerely,
Rod Jensen

This appears to be a reasonable work-around:

http://investexcel.net/multiple-stock-q ... -for-excel

It adds a step along the way, but it's as good as I was able to scrounge up without having to recreate the wheel.

At the bottom of the page of the above URL there is this link:
"Get Excel Spreadsheet to Download Bulk Historical Stock Data from Yahoo"
Use this to download the XL file.
