Micrsoft Office Excel 2010 - Compatibility Issues

Postby ecshukri » Tue Jul 20, 2010 9:39 pm

Hi! I'm using the latest Microsoft Office 2010 for Excel and it seems that Eviews is unable to read my data from the excel file. Solutions?

Which version of EViews are you using, and what's the build date? How are you trying to read the file in?

I'm currently using Microsoft Excel 2010 (Trial version). Aslo using Eviews 7 (version 7.1, build date: Apr 30, 2010). Here are my codes:

pagecreate(wf=svar,page=version1) m 1975m1 2009m12
read(b1,s=mth) "Q:\Work\2010\Research\SVAR & Inflation Dynamics\Data\20100629_main data file_03.xls" 12

From the latest MS excel 2010, the ecel file has the following '.xlsx'. e.g.
Q:\Work\2010\Research\SVAR & Inflation Dynamics\Data\20100629_main data file.xlsx

After I saved my work on an older MS excel version, my Eviews 7 worked nicely.

You'll need an official QMS answer for something definitive. In the meantime, you might update your version of EViews. Also, you might see if you have any different results using the wfopen command.

As stated by Startz, first try updating your copy of EViews.

If the problem remains, contact support@eviews.com and if possible include the 2010 excel file.
