Setting predetrmined values

Postby Envirogate » Tue Jul 05, 2011 12:19 pm

Hi Folks,

I was trying to develop a forecasting model and I have got some difficulties at one point. I know the value of one of my endogenous variable will be zero after year 2015. How can I instruct my model to make this variable zero from 2015 onwards?

Thanks

In the scenario options, set that variable as an Exclude for the sample after 2015. That will tell EViews to use the true values for that sample, rather than solve for it (i.e. treat it as exogenous rather than endogenous).

Thanks for the reply I tried that but the thing is i get this message( 2015 NA generated for variable EMI Solve terminated - Unable to compute due to missing data in EMI) is there any value that i have to enter manually? otherwise I want the rest of the endogenous variables to be solved beyond 2015.

Thanks I got it and it is working well now. I forgot to put the true values in the actual data.
