Modifying appended equations

I frequently work with models whose equations in many instances have been added with the "append" procedure. Is it possible from within a program to (a) delete an equation of this type from a model (in order to subsequently replace it with another specification) or to (b) edit such an equation's specification? These operations can be done via menus and dialogue boxes, but I haven't noticed any documentation about doing them using commands.

Unfortunately I don't believe there is a way to do it via the command line.
