Unable to install add-ins

I'm using EViews 7 (Standard Edition - Mar 1 2010 build). Tried installing add-ins from the EViews add-ins page but received an error window that reads:

"Binary Read - Step 1 of 3
File options
Start of data/header
Format string
Update preview
Unformatted preview:
... followed by a preview of some characters.

Also, I don't have an Add-Ins tab in the main menu when I launch EViews.

Could someone advise please? Thanks.

Update your copy of EViews.

I think you need to make certain you are running EViews 7.1 or later. Look for the EViews 7.2 *UPGRADE* installer on the downloads page.

I've just started getting this same error. I'm using Eviews 9 and I've updated to the latest version. I've tried on two of my colleague's machines (one on Eviews 8 and the other on 9) and they can install fine.

Any thoughts?

What exactly are you doing?

I'm trying to re-install a selection of add-ins we have written. They were all created using the following guide:
viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2155

They previously installed on my machine with no problems.

Thanks for your help

At a guess, they haven't been created properly. Perhaps you could email one to support@eviews.com and we can take a look.

You could also try running the command "REASSOCIATE" inside of EViews to associate the AIPZ extension and UOPZ extension with EViews. Once done, try double-clicking the downloaded AIPZ file to see if starts the install process.

We received the add-in package, and were able to install it just fine. You can try the reassociate command as Steve suggests. If you still have issues, can you outline exactly how you are trying to install the add-ins?

Steve's suggestion didn't fix the problem.

We have the .aipz files saved on our network. I have double-clicked on them, this opens up an instance of Eivews with the Binary Read dialog box pictured in the first post.

Are you able to tell which version of EViews is being opened when you double click? (Help->About EViews)

Also, what happens if you copy the .aipz file to a local drive first, then double click?

Regarding the version, it's the 64 bit version of Eviews 9, Standard Edition, Dec 14 2015 build. Same as if I manually open Eviews.

I tried installing from a version saved on Desktop, no success.

Simply run EViews, then go to the Add-ins menu and select "Download Add-ins".

Then select an add-in you wish to use and click the Install button.

Hello,

I need help with installing the ADD-INs Tab/menu. I am using eviews 9 the student version and I do not have anything as "Add-Ins" in my tool bar and i need it urgently to download the Breusch-Pagan test as it is not available among the list of residual diagnostics for panel data estimation using LS method.

N.B: eviews updates automatically whenever an update is available.

Thank you!
