Looks like you have a weird system dialog font or something.
Do you have a foreign language version of Windows?

Next click "Message Text" in the Window Color and Appearance dialog. Now try changing the "Font:" as well as the size.

I was hoping you could change the fonts without having to edit the registry, but apparently we cannot avoid it. As a general note, modifying the registry is potentially very dangerous, so be careful.
First you will need to start the registry editor. Press the Windows button in the lower left of your screen and then type regedit in the 'search programs and files' box. regedit.exe should be returned as a result. Click regedit.exe to start the registry editor.
From within the registry editor, navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes
In the right pane, you should something similar to .
Write down your current settings for MS Shell Dlg and MS Shell Dlg 2. In my case, they are Microsoft Sans Serif and Tahoma. Change those values to more appropriate fonts.
See 'Option Two' http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1175-fonts-change.html for more detailed instructions.
Note: you will need to log off and log back in for the changes to take effect.

You may want to back up the registry before you begin. Here is the page for how to do so in Windows 7
