Ok, here are some more detailed instructions...
First, verify that the EViews9SV.dmg file you downloaded is approximately 370MB in size.

If you double-click the DMG file and it opens into a window like this, it should be fine.

Now if you simply double-click the EViews 9 Student Version.pkg icon, you might see a dialog like this:

Click the OK button to close this dialog. Then hold down the Control key and click on the "EViews 9 Student Version.pkg" icon again. This should bring up the menu (holding down the Control key and clicking is the same as right-click if you have a two-button mouse). Click on Open on the menu. You should now see a dialog like this:

Click the Open button to start the installation. The first window of our installer should look like this:

Click Continue to begin the installation process.
If you are still having trouble with our installer, please send me the error message you are seeing. You can take a screenshot on your mac by clicking Cmd-Shift-4, then tap the spacebar (your mouse icon should turn into a camera now), then click on the window you'd like to copy. This will save the screenshot as a PNG file on your OSX desktop. Insert the PNG file as an attachment to your reply here.
