Re: Heckman robust std. errors

Hi guys, Sorry to be a pest but I'd really like to know if EVIEWS provides a procedure to correct the standard errors on coefficients in the Heckman two step? Please someone help! Macky If you search the Help system for Heckman, you'll find instructions for estimaing the Heckman model by mle. That'...

Re: HOT KEYS in Eviews?

Although it is unlikely that we will add the ability to change hot-keys yourself, we're more than willing to listen to suggestions on other hot-keys you'd like added. So, for now, I'd suggest few EXCEL hot keys (as a lot of people are XLS users and these hot keys are common and intensively used). L...

Re: LSDV or Within-Estimator - what does eviews use?

Hello, as I understand it, the specification between LSDV and within-estimator is different. In LSDV you are including k+n regressors (the k X's, the n-1 binary variables, and the intercept) whereas you do the computational trick (demeaning the variables) in the other case. In the end the estimator...

Re: HOT KEYS in Eviews?

Although it is unlikely that we will add the ability to change hot-keys yourself, we're more than willing to listen to suggestions on other hot-keys you'd like added. IMHO, I think the addition of hot keys should be limited (not necessarily to zero). It's better to leave some keys "empty"...

Re: HOT KEYS in Eviews?

Hmm, not so many as I expect ... Could you tell me please, Is it possible to (re)program HOT KEY on my own? (e.g.: to use NOT "F10", but to reprogram as "CTRL+R") Andrej EViews doesn't give you a way to reprogram keys, but there are widely available utilities that do. My persona...

Re: HOT KEYS in Eviews?

Hello, to: Eviews Staff I wanna ask you about hot keys in Eviews? Are there any hot keys to work with workfiles and/or programming? (in a sense to use keyboard intensively) Let say, occasionally I found that to "Run" a program - hot key is "F10"! I dont know what to others, but ...

Re: Is it a Must to work with deflated data?

did u mean by choosing this option? http://i44.tinypic.com/2ahv5nk.jpg so 'deflating' is similar to 'transforming' the data, isn't it? cmiiw btw, what is the Cross-section SUR for? Yes, that could be a good approach. Here's what the manual says If you select Cross section weights, EViews will estim...

Re: Is it a Must to work with deflated data?

i still don't get it. If i'm using the variable which has wide-range variance such as accounting earning (independet variable) in 17 company (panel data) which the value is ranging from million usd to billion usd, should i deflate the data ? cos the plot will look so scattered. how can i apply the ...

Re: Setting sample size

hi, I am using Eview6 version and i have a sample with 2371 observation. I should create two sub-samples by using the following commands (I do not know in whic version of Eviews those commands were written): sample s1 %first+1 %last sample s2 %first+!q %last So in the window command, I wrote: sampl...

adjustable pane line in workfile window

How about making the break line between the sample and the workfile objects adjustable so that one can make room to more easily see a long smpl.

scroll bug

If you have a large number of observations, open a series window, and scroll down with the down arrow in the scroll bar but not far enough to move the page icon in the scroll bar, then you can't move the page icon all the way up to get back to the top of the window.

refresh

Would it be possible to have a refresh button/F5-key that caused the window to be redrawn? This would serve two different purposes: (1) cleaning up the picture on those occasions when it scrolling or something else messes it up, (2) getting a new picture after changing the smpl or series values in s...

quanta failure

In Statistics by Classification, if you enter two numbers in the quantile box the dialog just pops back up. Perhaps there should either be an alert (or even better, process both numbers :) )

nobs location

How about moving the report on the number of observations in the sample on the sample line at the top of the workfile from the right to the left. In a long smpl specification, the number of observations is too hard to see. Perhaps it could go in parentheses after "Sample." For symmetry, th...
