Re: Problem Accessing IHS Magellan Database

Well I just confirmed with the developer of EdxMagellan that it doesn't seem to use the proxy info defined in EViews. I'll have to make some coding changes to read the proxy settings -- send me your email address so that I can send you a link to download some modified files to get this to work for y...

Re: Problem Accessing IHS Magellan Database

It seems like your EdxMagellan library is not properly registered on your machine. Here are some things to check: 1. Verify that your EViews 7 folder has a folder named EDX_35 and that folder has the following files in it: EdxMagellan.dll EdxMagellan.XmlSerializers.dll Interop.EViewsEdx.dll 2. Run E...

Re: how to call an EViews program file from Excel VBA?

Application.Run is just like typing into the command window in EViews itself. Anything you can type into the EViews command window, you can pass to Application.Run. So if you refer to our EViews Command Reference, you get a list of all available commands... By the way, about your Remote Procedure ca...

Re: Eivews on Macbook

If you use Parallels, it can store the entire virtual machine in a single file or on a separate partition -- your choice. I've actually heard that running your VM from a file can be faster than running it from your boot camp partition but I don't remember the reasons. I've done both methods and they...

Re: EViews Add-In to Excel - Get Data

Unfortunately, our OLEDB driver was designed to read data out of workfiles and databases WITHOUT a lot of the programming engine support that is available in EViews. On one hand, this means you can use our OLEDB driver without incurring the resource cost of launching EViews itself (which can be slow...

Re: Silent install of 7.1 patch & update ?

You can have EViews register everything it needs by calling the EViews7.exe with a command line:

EViews7.exe /regcomsilent
(this is the silent version with no success or error messages)

So you should be able to run a login script (running under an admin account) that does this.

Re: Silent install of 7.1 patch & update ?

Urban, just run EViews7 under your admin account and make sure you Run as Administrator. Once running, type in the command "REGCOMPONENTS" into EViews and that register components dialog will show up. Click Yes to register everything. Once done, that dialog will not appear on the user's in...

Re: Error when using Remote Desktop and Excel Plugin

Now in most cases, a standalone user who has installed a single seat license of EViews will be able to login to his/her system remotely using RDC and use EViews without issue. However, there are restrictions. We do not allow you to use an EViews standalone license over a Citrix or Windows Terminal b...

Re: database API

I'll assume you are trying to push data from your database into EViews... There are various methods to do this. First of all, if you can extract your data into a comma delimited text file (or even to Excel), you can read that file into EViews easy enough. Refer to our documentation on how to do this...

Re: matlab xget

It looks like the MATLAB COM interface won't let you use compound statements in the call to GetWorkspaceData. Meaning, you can't call "func(M_.params)" to get your data. And from what I can see, there's no reason why you couldn't just call XGET M_.params aside from this limitation. So here...

Re: matlab xget

Yeah, the cell2mat was just an example of a function you could use -- and it would only work if the M_.params object was a cell array.

What does class(M_.params) return?

Re: matlab xget

I'm pretty sure that if you put M_.params into it's own separate matrix (within MATLAB) first, you can then download that new matrix variable to EViews with an XGET call. This limitation is due to their own COM interface so it would be something they would have to change in order to allow a call to ...

Alexis: Are you catching any VBA errors that are thrown? I believe our Run command throws any EViews errors as an exception that should be caught by your code like this: Public Sub test() Dim mgr As New EViews.Manager Dim app As EViews.Application Set app = mgr.GetApplication(ExistingOrNew) On Error...

Re: odbc error 42S02

Try this: wfopen(wf=xxx,page=d,type=odbc,timeout=120) D:\Eviews\Dsn\xxx.dsn "{call [database].[dbo].[zzzz]('xxx', '04/01/2005', '07/07/2011')}" @keep * You basically need to put curly braces around the entire thing, change the 'execute' to a 'call', and finally put parenthesis around the p...
