Re: R and Eviews: using xget

Zeno: Your z object is a data.frame that has column names with spaces in their names (e.g. "Pseries 1"). This is allowed in R but EViews will not support that currently -- we'll have to fix that in a future patch. There is a workaround though... Your command: xget(name = test1, test2 , typ...

Re: ODBC Error

Yes, try installing the new Access 2010 drivers explicitly. You can download the setup file from Microsoft here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=C06B8369-60DD-4B64-A44B-84B371EDE16D&displaylang=en Then, after doing this, re-create a new DSN using the new driver (oh, mayb...

Re: ODBC Error

Can you access your Access file using ODBC from any other application (such as MS Query)? I'm pretty sure this was working on our Office 2010 Beta install so I'd have to guess there's something interesting about the installation on your machine.

Re: Eviews 7 Excel Add-in

Actually, our original OLEDB driver didn't work with Office 2010 32-bit either. We've made a fix to that with the help of Microsoft so our latest version does work. However, it'll be a while before we release a 64-bit version for Office 2010 64-bit.

Re: Excel Add-in with EViews 7.1

Hi Susan: The EViews Excel Add-In is a single file named "EViews Add In.xla". It is installed into the EViews7 subdirectory whenever you install EViews 7. If the setup program detects Microsoft Office, it also tries to copy this file to the Office Add In folder. If you already had Office i...

Re: Extracting Equation from Eviews to Excel

Make a small change to your Run command to actually create an equation object like this: app.Run("EQUATION EQ1.LS LOG(MWH) @TREND H1 H2 H3 H4 H5 H6 H7 C") Then, to retrieve the parts, you don't actually have to create separate vectors/matrices. Just run: app.Get("=EQ1.@coefs") or...

Re: Silent install of 7.1 patch & update ?

The 7.1 patch is just doing a file replacement of certain key files, so if you run the patch on one machine, you can copy those changed files and then "install" them yourself on other machines by just doing a file copy using a batch file that you can write easily.

Re: Integration of EViews with custom external database

If you had an ODBC driver for your custom external database, EViews could read and write from it fine. Refer to our documentation for interfacing with ODBC databases. (e.g. wfopen(type=odbc) dsn_name "select * from table_name") Assuming you don't have an ODBC driver, I would suggest using ...

Avoiding password prompt when reading and writing via ODBC

EViews has support for reading data from and writing data to an ODBC datasource. This is done through the creation of an ODBC DSN defined on the local machine. This DSN specifies which ODBC driver to use, and where the database server is, and which database is the default one. Many of these database...

How to push data from DataTables into EViews via COM

Someone recently asked this question and I thought it deserved it's own forum post because of the popularity of Datasets and DataTables out there. A DataTable is a virtual representation of a table in a database. It can have multiple columns and multiple rows. It is equivalent to an EViews workfile ...

Re: Excel Add-In

The EViews Excel Add-In uses the new EViews OleDb driver to access data from an EViews workfile or database. This OLEDB driver has some limitations as it doesn't have access to the entire EViews functional library to do things like filter rows based on values from other series, etc. The most it can ...

Re: R not installed

R itself doesn't have COM capabilities, but some folks built a program called statconnDCOM to remedy that. It uses an R package named "rscproxy" as well so you'll need both of these installed to get everything working. You can find more specific instructions in the EViews 7 Command Ref.pdf...

Actually, we have a newer version of License Manager that supports proxy authentication -- but it's currently in testing at the moment. If you're interested, send me your email address and I'll send you the test code.

Rob:

We actually just published the 7.1 manual upgrade installer on our website last night. Currently, it's only available from our website (not via Automatic downloads within EViews). Go ahead and download it from there (http://www.eviews.com/download/download.html) and run the setup.
