Re: COM automation

My guess is that you have some orphaned instances of EViews running in the background (hidden) that you're not aware of. This can happen if your calling application crashes or stops midway without properly telling the EViews instance it was talking to that it is no longer needed. In these cases, eve...

Re: import(resize) match-merging does not work as expected with panel data

This is a complicated issue... Yes, you are correct. Currently the resize option is ignored when you are performing a match-merge import to a panel. Resizing panel workfiles can be complicated and our current resize dialog only allows you to adjust date ranges, not cross id values. resize.png The co...

Re: EViews crashes...

Further, this bug is happening because EViews (by default) does not allow multiple un-named workfiles to be open at a time and tries to delete any previous untitled workfile whenever a new one is created -- and EViews is not cleaning up properly (during a program run) when doing this. So when your p...

Re: EViews crashes...

Thanks for the program. I was able to get EViews 10 to crash on just the first run. While we try to fix this problem, I believe you can avoid this crash by changing a global setting to allow multiple untitled workfiles. Go to Options/General Options/Environment/Window behavior, then in the "All...

Re: disable repeating code at command line

Check the command capture setting by going to the Options menu/General Options/Command capture and make sure the "Send command capture to Command Capture Window Only" is selected.

If this doesn't help, please provide some more details and a screenshot of what you are seeing.

Re: EIA database error

If you go to the EViews File menu/Open/Database, and then select EIA Online Database, you can see in the Server specification field the URL that EViews will try to use to get EIA data. In this case, the URL is: api.eia.gov I double-checked and the EdxEIA code is using just normal HTTP protocol (e.g....

Re: API reference - IDatabase.WriteObjects Method

I looked at the object being returned by EViewsDatabaseManager and that object only implemented WriteObject. WriteObjects throws a "Not implemented" COM error like you're seeing. But I can tell you that even if WriteObjects had been implemented, our code can really only write a single obje...

Re: API reference - IDatabase.WriteObjects Method

Hmm, it seems like we left out the documentation for the EDX WriteObjects method in our docs. I guess most of our EDXs are read-only so most haven't run into this issue yet. We'll have to fix that. In any case, I looked up how EViews calls WriteObjects and what get's passed in and what is expected b...

Re: IHS Global Insight Database Connection

I took a quick look at some of the network settings for DataInsight and it does have support for specifying a proxy server, but there isn't any setting for UserAgent. If you setup a proxy server on your local machine, then point DataInsight to it, that might allow you to get around the UserAgent iss...

Re: IHS Global Insight Database Connection

I've submitted this question to the DataInsight team that developed the EDX control that EViews uses. At this point, there's isn't an easy way to adjust the UserAgent field on their connections, but if they come up with something, I'll let you know.

Re: output data to excel 2010 (xlsx) file

The add-in is usually installed along with EViews. If you think you already have it, run EViews and run the REGCOMPONENTS command and then scroll the list down to the last item "Excel 2010 Add In". It should say "Installed" next to it. If it doesn't, click the "Yes (All)&quo...

I would suggest you first import them separately into an EViews workfile, then perform the match merge within EViews.

Jean, please provide a screenshot of the error you are seeing. Also, is this a large file you are saving? Is it a workfile?

Oh and also provide the EViews version and build date -- you can get this info by going to the Help menu/About EViews dialog.

Re: EViews breaks down every two program runs

We recently found a problem that can happen during long program runs while a workfile window is open. This will be fixed in the next patch but you can avoid this if you minimize (not close) any workfile windows before you start your program. If your issue is different, please give us more details so...
