rndseed?

Hi, We have a set of programs that generate some random numbers, but we have trouble creating code so that the same random numbers are generated across different computers. Attached is a set of programs. If you run the master-file (master.prg) you will generate some random numbers in a series X: 202...

Re: MCE_SOLVE: a more reliable and efficient solver?

Attached is a new version of the add-in, please update if you have the old version. The classical Smets-Wouters DSGE model is now also included in the example folder: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1162/154247603770383415 . This is an example where the mce_solve-subroutine solves the model, ...

smpl

I (mistakenly) thought that

Code: Select all

smpl yyyy yyyy+4

would be equivalent to:

Code: Select all

smpl yyyy yyyy:1+5

but, it is not, see pictures below. what is it that the command

Code: Select all

smpl yyyy yyyy+5

actually does?

Re: MCE_SOLVE: a more reliable and efficient solver?

Hi, I have now spent some time understanding and using the subroutine created by the FRB/US team (mce_solve), and I have made an add-in that uses that subroutine, but is a bit easier to execute from EViews without a deep understanding of all the details in the mce_solve-routine. When solving a model...

MCE_SOLVE: a more reliable and efficient solver?

Hi, A solver for linear and non-linear models under model-consistent (MC) or "rational" (RE) expectations in EViews is provided as a part of the FRB/US model project, see: https://www.federalreserve.gov/econres/us-models-package.htm The subroutine can be applied to EViews models in general...

Re: proc - addin

Okay, thanks for the clarification! Updates that limit the functionality in EViews should come with a warning. Ideally, new updates should not introduce limitations to existing functionality at all ....

again, thanks for the swift reply

Re: proc - addin

But is this a new restriction that has been added? This addin has worked for at least 1 year already, and now the error message suddenly appeared ...

(btw, thanks for the quick response)

Re: add-in: desc

Hi Gareth,

Thanks for your suggestion! I tried to open the ini-file in windows notepad, but I could not find any information about add-ins in the ini-file (see attachment). Can you please elaborate a bit on how to find this information?
