Re: Number of occurences for a string pattern

Hi,
here is a (case-sensitive) workaround in one line.
Let %s1 denote the shorter string occuring zero or more times in the longer string %s2. The code

Code: Select all

(@strlen(%s2)-@strlen(@replace(%s2,%s1,"")))/@strlen(%s1)

Graphing matrices - how to get dates on obs./date axis?

Dear Eviews team & users, when graphing matrices/vectors, is there an easy way to get dates on the Obs/date axis instead of a row index? Example wfcreate a 2000 2015 matrix(120,2) mat mat.fill(l) nrnd freeze(mgraph, mode=overwrite) mat.line ' mgraph should now get some dates, say monthly, from 2...

@inner with lag-indexed series

Dear eviews team, given two series x and y, the program line !v=@inner((x(1)-1),((y(1)-1)) produces the error 1 is not a valid index for vector-series-coefficient Y in "!V2=@INNER((X(1)-1),(Y(1)-2))". Why? Is this a bug? It is clear to me that the following lines work ok !v=@inner((x-1),((...

Question: min or max of several time series

Dear community, any straightforward way of obtaining the min or max of several series? I am aware that it can be programmed in some lenght; I'm looking for a one-liner which would also be good for the command line. Example programme (not the most elegant one) below is just to clarify what I am after...

Re: Bugs with mixed graphs in panel

Part 2: For mixed graphs you have to create the group first and then create the mixed graph after. You cannot do both in one line like that of line and bar graphs Would be great to have "agraph.mixed" (like, for instance, "agraph.bar") in future releases of EViews, as has been r...

Bugs with mixed graphs in panel

Dear Eviews team, Using Eviews 9.1 November 2015 build I have found some bugs with the mixed graph-type in panels Define a panel wfcreate a 2000 2010 4 series x = nrnd series y = nrnd series z=x+y group gr z x y The code line gr.mixed(panel=i) line(1) stackedbar(2,3) gives rise to the error message ...

sheet view with panel data

Dear Eviews team, given a panel series x, for instance, wfcreate a 2000 2012 10 series x=100+nrnd the following command gives rise to the error message "Invalid transformation" x.sheet(tform=diff) On the other hand, the command show d(x) and then pressing the "Wide+/-" button wor...

Linking series across pages: copy description from source

Dear Eviews team, I use Eviews 9 the command or program line link x.linkto Quarterly\x would not automatically copy the description, source, and unit fields of the label of the source series to the label of the link. To my view there is no easy way to accomplish that in a program. An option to the l...

Re: Assignment !v=@var(d(x)) gives error msg

Hi, thanks for your reply. I would like to suggest to change that in future versions of EVIEWS so that assignments such as "scalar x = @var(d(y))" or "!x=@var(d(y))" are feasable, I would find this feature elementary for an advanced (and, by the way, not so cheap) econometric ana...

Assignment !v=@var(d(x)) gives error msg

Hi, Using Eviews 9 I am wondering why assignments such as !v = @var(dlog(x)) !v = @var(d(x)) in a program, or, in the command line, scalar v = @var(dlog(x)) don't work. I obtain an error message like DLOG is an illegal or reserved name in "!VAR = @VAR(DLOG(X))". Same applies to other stat....

Dear Eviews team,
I have upgraded to the September 14 2015 build.
The problem described above exists also with the updated version of EVEIWS 9

Re: contract a page with uniquevals?

Hi, what about sorting the workpage? Create an example workpage. 'Generate example workpage wfcreate u 100 !lo=1 !hi=10 series num=@round(!lo+(!hi-!lo)*rnd) alpha name=@chr(64+num) '' Generate index series genr index=@obsnum '' Sort page sort name 1. To keep all cases with the first occurrences of t...
