Re: Automation of Eviews prgs

Not within EViews, but you can use Windows scheduler, or other 3rd party services to schedule EViews to run a program.

Re: Access Datastream via Eviews 10 Enterprise Demo

It isn't clear whether you're asking how to gain access to a Datastream account, or how to use that account from within EViews. We can't help with the former, you'll have to contact Datastream. Once you have a Datastream account, you can open a Datastream database in the same way as any other databa...

Re: FRML Creation and Sampling

Oh, I see what you mean. No.

The @ranks and @obs functions won't accept @pagesmpl as an argument.

Re: FRML Creation and Sampling

frmls only update when an underlying series changes, not when things like workfile ranges, samples, or matrix objects change. So, yes, you can set a frml to be based upon @pagesmpl, but it will never update itself automatically, since @pagesmpl is not a series.

Re: Attributes question

It is probably the case that any page that has at least one entry for displayname will save the displayname. If none of your series have a value for displayname, it won't be saved.

Re: Dummies for day of the week, month and year

The idea behind using dummy variables is fine, my point was that in EViews you don’t need to create them as series first, you can just estimate with the expressions in the equation directly.

Although, I'll reiterate, there should be no reason to create these series at all.

Re: Dummies for day of the week, month and year

You can't give a series a name starting with a number. Call it Y2009 instead.

Re: Dummies for day of the week, month and year

Why can you not do the same thing for years using @year?

Also, you should try using @expand(@month) etc... to automatically impose the dummies rather than creating them manually.

Re: Import hourly data - workfile

Unfortunately not. You could create an alpha series containing the format you want (something like alpha a = @datestr(@date, "DD/MM/YYYY") + " " + @str(@hour+1)), then structure the workfile as undated by id series, where that alpha is the id series. But once you've done that, EV...

No.

Given that there isn't a proc to save strings as text, how did you save them?
