Re: frenchdata - Ken French's data library

If you ever have trouble downloading an add-in, you can always hit the "Website" button and go to the following page to download the add-in directly: http://www.eviews.com/Addins/addins.shtml From that page, I got the following download link for the frenchdata add-in: http://www.eviews.com...

Re: Wavelet Transform

Ah, I figured it out. I'm sure the wavelets author would've been able to tell you this him/herself, but the wavelets add-in requires the use of R and it also needs the 'wavelets' R library to be installed in your R environment. When the add-in tries to automatically install the wavelets R package, i...

Re: Wavelet Transform

Seems like EViews 10 & 11 both have the same issue with the wavelets add-in. I think it's reporting an incorrect error due to a problem with the wavelets code. I'll see if I can at least fix the issue with the incorrect error message - it may help with figuring out why wavelets isn't working.

Re: compare script version comparison

If snapshots is turned on, you can see a history of your program and do some basic comparisons between versions without using an external tool.

Snapshots are taken every few minutes (but only if a change is detected) and also on every save.

Snapshots were introduced in EViews 10.

Re: Bug using Eviews 11 and the excel add-in

Ok, I've verified that the Dec 24, 2019 patch for EViews 11 broke the Excel add-in, but only for those using Office 64-bit. Office 32-bit users are fine.

I've confirmed that the new patch that will be released next week will fix this problem.

Re: Bug using Eviews 11 and the excel add-in

Thanks for the info. We'll look into the Excel Add-In problem. To answer your question about reverting an update... If you'd like to revert back each individual update, you'll have to make a copy of your EViews program directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\EViews 11) and save it somewhere before you run ...

Re: COM add-in set priority in execution

Not really sure what you're asking, but if it's related to using COM automation to control EViews, there isn't any parameter to tell EViews to run in a lower priority process. Also, if you're launching a program, I don't believe there's a parameter to tell EViews to do the same either.

Re: Task Scheduler for multiple prg files

I think that's more of an issue with Windows instead of EViews. If you try to run any exe or batch file whose name starts with a number, Windows will have trouble with it (I believe).

Re: Task Scheduler for multiple prg files

I would first try changing the user account being used to run the task to your own to make sure it’s not a security/permissions issue. Next, I would turn on logmode with a filename and autosave=on so that you can see how far the program is getting and where it might be getting stuck. Then, while the...

Re: Attribute limit?

I don't think there's an explicit limit on attributes. The theoretical limit of our string class (internal code) is 4.2 billion characters. Of course that's constrained by the amount of memory you have. Unrelated to attribute values, Alpha string objects are limited to the number of characters you d...

Re: Excel addin for Eviews 11

For the most part, yes. The EViews 11 Excel add-in will have a different icon image used for the "Get Data" button, but other than that, they should be the same. Our Excel add-in uses the EViews Oledb Provider that is installed and registered by either EViews 10 or 11. Whichever one was la...

Re: Eviews and FAME

Here's something that might help... Our fame code looks for an environment variable named "FAME" that points to the FAME directory. We then look for a dll named "chli.dll" in that directory (or for 64-bit, we look for "\64\chli.dll"). Try defining a FAME environment var...

Re: R Integration

Details, I need more details.

What is the command you are trying to run that seems to error?
What does the error say? Or a screenshot of the error?
Also, you should verify that the R command you are running works in R (outside of EViews).

Re: R Integration

Most likely the previous R command you ran is taking a long time to complete. Are you getting confirmation in the console log window that the command completed successfully? Or are you trying to display a modal dialog that might be waiting for you to dismiss before returning back to EViews?
