Re: Error when importing *.dta data

My suggestions were only meant to troubleshoot and pinpoint the specific problem, not come up with a workaround. My guess is that the problem is due to file size, so trying to open it after removing half the data could answer that. EViews 64-bit can theoretically read files that are much larger than...

Re: Error when importing *.dta data

Do you know what version of Stata was used to generate the DTA file? It's possible that our support for DTA doesn't extend to particular versions. Also, your file is very close to the limit of a 32-bit application so make sure you are using EViews 64-bit to try and open the file. Another suggestion ...

Re: MS Access import

ODBC drivers have to match the calling application's "bitness". Meaning if EViews 11 is 32-bit, you'll need the Microsoft Access 32-bit ODBC drivers installed. If EViews is 64-bit, you'll need the 64-bit drivers. So most likely, when you installed Office 2019, you may have switched "b...

Re: VBA to Eviews

EViews reads and writes a series object vertically. So transpose is the solution we recommend to people who have their data running horizontally.

Re: Error in using FRB/US supply side package in EViews 11

While these are EViews programs you are running, it would be more appropriate to ask the people that actually wrote the program, since they know most about it. But I did do a quick google search for "FRM/US supply side package" and found the zip file you're running these programs from. I f...

Re: efficiently storing large amounts of data to server

Without knowing the details yet, I can say that storing to a local database/file first, and then pushing the database/file to the network is going to be significantly faster than pushing each object over the network one by one. For example, save everything to a local CSV text file, then copy the CSV...

Re: R save stuff

Ok, I made some changes that will make it to our next patch. WFSAVE for rdata files will now support alphas, matrixes, vectors, and scalars. They will all appear as separate items in R.

Re: R save stuff

Actually, I looked into the rdata save code and it seems like we're intentionally ignoring alpha series. I may be able to include those for rdata file formats, at least as a separate object. I'll let you know...

Re: R save stuff

Alpha series: I believe our default is to save all numeric series objects in a workfile into either a data.frame or a ts structure. Can you have alpha columns in a data.frame or ts? If so, send me some example R code that assembles that and I'll see about supporting alpha series. Capture pane: SaveA...

Please send me a copy of the workfile you are using and details on how you are doing the export (copy? wfsave?). You can send me the workfile via email to steve@eviews.com.

Re: Blewey!!!!!

Thanks for the file. I was able to reproduce the error/crash. It was caused by a data conversion issue (specifically string to number) not being properly handled by EViews. For now, if you remove the "Date" string column from your SP500 object, you'll be able to import the object into a ne...

Re: Blewey!!!!!

Send me the rdata file to steve@eviews.com and I’ll try to recreate it. What version of r do you have EViews using?
