Re: Censored Estimation (Capacity Utilization)

Really Tks, Trubador! I'll try some of the tips u gave in that post; using some LR test. If I find something interesting, I'll send to all. TKs.

Censored Estimation (Capacity Utilization)

Hi all! I'm used to estimate some capacity utilization level in Brazil. Of course, the level is between 0 and 1 (0 to 100%). I've been using Truncated Data Estimation. I'm reasonable smart with techniques, but definitely I'm not academic. I'd like some help for choosing between Normal, Logistic or '...

Re: Vector Error Correction Model

Inside the estimated equation, click on "proc" and "make model". It's the beggining. There are several options to choose after to forecast.

Re: Additional Computational Power

It's an interesting point. I'm not a so hard user, but during my MA classes, It was said several times about this issue and it was one of the reasons that we use other soft wares like OxMetrics package or Matlab, even in the econometrics of time series. Its useful to learn other packages, but EViews...

Re: Bi-weekly databases

Simply great. I'm eager to have it. Here in Brazil, fortnightly is not used, but bi-weekly... A lot. Even so a kind of weekly not standardized for 52 week/year (a year with 53 or 51 weeks). I imagine, anyway, that the fortnightly must be useful in a lot of English culture countries. Tks! Fabio

Bi-weekly databases

I have a more structural suggestion. I think its useful to economists: the possibility to work with bi-weekly databases (24 periods/year). Usually I use OxMetrics/Stamp to cope with these kind of indicators or I split the series in EV monthly files. I've tried to use integer dates, but its harder to...

Trubador, Thanks a lot for your contributions. I'm a young MA economist in Brazil and your tips are teaching me a lot (I think, they're teaching most of us). Fabio.

Re: deal with heteroscedasticity and autocorrelation in OLS

Hi I'm not so good with theory, but I'm used to make OLS estimation always with NW correction. It changes only your std. errors, not parameters. If u got not relevant variables after correcting your estimation, probably they're not relevant (or you can have a multicollinearity problem - I think this...

Suggestion: Ordering WF pages (tabs)

Hi all!

I'd like to send a suggestion for future versions: the possibility to change the order of workfile pages (automatically by their names or by myself - dragging and droppoing).

Regards,

Fabio

Returning the last available observation in the workfile

Hello all! Does anyone know how can I get, with '@' function, the last observation available in the workfile (not in the sample)? For instance, to a series: Jan 10 Feb 23 Mar 14 Abr 12 May 38 June NA July NA ... Dec NA Returns 38? I'd think I could find an answer easily, but I couldn't. I need this ...

Suggestion: X12 US Census update (v.0.3)

I'd like to suggest to the EV 7, the updating of X12 to the version 0.3 (from nowadays 0.2.9). They've implemented some advantages of TRAMO/SEATS. Tks.

Creating Indexes by changes

Hi all! I'd like to know if someone has any idea about this issue: Without programming (eg. only one command line or using auto update function), convert monthly % changes into indexes numbers referenced in any (or, at least, the first) period of time. For instance: t1=10% t2=5% t3=15% So t0=100 t1=...

Re: Doubt: Seasonal Adjustment by Tramo/Seats

Yeah, I'm trying to. Its a bit hard, but I'm getting it. The problem is not EV. Is original Tramo/Seats. It seems tough compared to X12 (and more sophisticated).

Tks a lot, Glenn.
