Re: "for" to compute series backwards

Tks Gareth, You're the man.

It worked with a little change ("+!i" by "-!i") cause I'd like to compute old data y by dy (1901/1990) in function of new data y (1991/2010).

"for" to compute series backwards

Hi all! I'm not used to loop routines. For the bellow task I usually compute with Excel easily. I'd like to compute a series like: y=y(1)/(1+dy/100) y ~level; dy~an old series growth rate. The original sample is 1991m1 to 2010m2. I have old growth rates backwards to 1901m01. Does someone can help me...

EViews 7.1 - Simply great!

I'm just start using the new 'add-in' menu and downloading packages. Great idea. EV is user friendly, but sometimes we fell its not as complete or flexible as other econometric packages. I think this initiative spreads the possibilities for estimation using EV as primary econometric soft. Tks! Fabio.

SVAR and forecast (model)

Hi all! I'm trying to estimate a SVAR like Blanchard&Quah. The impulse-response was ok (not so good, but ok). The problem is that i'm trying to solve by model and estimate something like a filtered unemployment (eg. NAIRU). I made the model, but only with the unrestricted VAR. Is it possible to ...

EcoWin and EViews Enterprise

Hi all! I was used to get data from FRED and EcoWin. I need to reinstall EcoWin recently. Now, I can get data to Excel (XLA plugin) and directly from that software. But now I'm having problems to get info to EViews. The configured 'default' at EViews to open EcoWin. The menu appears to me to select ...

Re: Frequency Conversion and Databases (external and internal)

I got it. Tks a lot.

The problem was the option "propagate NAs" just bellow the "Average" option at Frequency Conversion Menu. The option was set. I've changed it and now I got the correct values.

Re: Frequency Conversion and Databases (external and internal)

I checked. Probably is a problem restricted to external databases. My EV is set to get average from daily to monthly conversion. I created a WF monthly. So, I copied as link the series "dexbzus" (Brazilian Real x USD; daily) from FRED (open database available to enterprise users) to my mon...

Re: Frequency Conversion and Databases (external and internal)

Yep. Its almost the same kind of code. Well... So, I'll see here if the problem is restricted to EcoWin (or open sources as Fed. St. Louis x internal databases). Tks.

Re: Frequency Conversion and Databases (external and internal)

Sorry Jason. Language problems. I made a .prg to get some daily data from Ecowin. I send this daily obs to a EViews personal database. So, in a wf1 monthly file I link series (eg. crbm=database::crbd). crbm would be series converted to the mean of the daily data and crbd is the daily data at the dat...

Frequency Conversion and Databases (external and internal)

Hi all! I have EcoWin and EViews Enterprise. A good combination to manipulate databases. I'm creating some .prg to get data from EW databases and store them to my own database. Usually daily data. Using EV, I often link monthly workfiles with daily data, asking for the average. I set this as standar...

Dummy for a specific period

Good topic, good ideas for auto dummies.

I'd like to know if is it possible to get auto dummies for a selected period. For just one point, I use @isperiod("date"). Could I use something as useful for more than one period (eg. 3 or 4 consecutive months or quarters)?

Tks in advance,

Fabio

Re: XLSX files and EV7

Not exactly. People often have .xls (or new xlsx) with graphs and simple operations (or not so simple). CSV files deals only with texts. I'm writing about corporate cooperative spreadsheets, several people using the same file. For instance, take my example: I save lots of series with monthly forecas...

Re: XLSX files and EV7

Really tks!!! And as usual tks for the fast answering, too. I'll try these tips tomorrow morning. Slower importing xlsx files is bad, but a reasonable penalty for importing more or less 500 columns together (eg. detailed CPI or PPI). Undoubtedly this forum is the best way to get useful information a...

Re: XLSX files and EV7

First, sorry for inserting this in 'tips, tricks and suggestions' instead of 'data manipulation'.

One specific weird thing dealing with xlsx files: command import doesn't get missing observations in the beginning of the named range (series name, NA, NA, ..., NA, x1, x2,..., xn).

Tks,

Fabio.

XLSX files and EV7

Hi all! There'll be an update/patch to import xlsx files?! I'm managed using 'import' command, but its not doing the right thing when more than one range is used. The online documentation is not enough to understand how EV7 deal with xlsx files (at least I couldn't find enough information; sorry if ...
