Re: seasonal adjustment - lunar new year

Follow the instructions of GenHol at BLS X12 website. There are some examples there.

Best wishes,

Fabio

Re: Time Series Functions - Year to Date (YTD) Variations

Hi, I think this is not going to work. We are dealing with percentage numbers; they're compounded in geometric terms, not arithmetic ones. Furthermore, my idea of a function is to use it inasmuch as @pcy(@movsum(X,12)); a rolling function. Maybe in a future version, the EV's team could develop somet...

Links - WF (or DB) and PPT files (as XLS and PPT)

Hi all! I know probably it is a hard suggestion to be included in future versions, but...

I'd like to suggest the possibility to create links of graphs and PowerPoint files (PPT/PPTX). There are links with Excel, but would be great link auto-update graphs with PPT files as XLS to PPT.

Tks,

Fabio.

Database, fetch or copy commands

Hi all! I'm a user of EViews' database solution. Here I found out the structure 'copy a::x b::y'. It is great. I'd like to know if is there something similar to copy/transfer series from a database to another doing a frequency conversion. Example: copying a daily series from a database to a monthly ...

Re: seasonal adjustment - lunar new year

I don't know if this can help after two years, but... I strongly recommend to you to access the BLS-X12 website to get instructions how to create dummies to deal with Chinese New Year (jan or feb). These dummies can be used inside the X12 specification (and EViews can read the specs files). http://w...

Re: Frequency Conversion - Help

Its a simple thing (i think it'll work): Be: yqi quarterly data, but exposed monthly: jan=NA, feb=NA, mar=number, abr=NA, may=NA, jun=number,... ym the monthly indicator, available for any month. What I've done is to get an estimate of the quarterly data by three months moving average of monthly dat...

Re: A few things about Database

Hi guys! I've started to use these tips for external databases, specially Ecowin data. Is it possible to change series names? when copying to local databases? For instance, "for %data usa04405" (usa04405 is EWin's name) change 'usa04405' to another name (eg. 'pmi_chicago')? Tks in advance,...

@mean(x,n) function with weird behavior after update

Hi all! I'm used to use formulas like that: Y=DB::X/@mean(DB::X,"t0 t1")*100 to change the base of a series. The formulas worked well until the today update (May 11). Now I only can do the operation if the original series is not in the database, but in the workfile. The message I got is (D...

Re: Date Function/Manipulation (@month / @movav)

Ok. Tks. I was trying something direct (to build a kind of formula link).

Do u know why "@movav" with "@month" doesn't work?

Tks, Fabio.

Date Function/Manipulation (@month / @movav)

Hi all! I'm trying to easily extract the moving average of a time series in the year. So, I know the function "@month". For the given month 'i', 'i'=1,2,...,12. I've combined it with the @movav function in the way: @movav(X,i). I'm not getting what I expected. What probably I've done wrong...

Re: A few things about Database

Great point!

I've been used to get series creating a kind of temp workfile instead of direct copying data.

Tks!

Fabio
