Renaming cross-sections in the id01 variable
I have a panel file and I'd like to rename some of my cross-sections, as listed in the id01 variable. Eviews tells me that I cannot edit those cells. Is there a workaround without having to unstructure and restructure my workfile?

Do you want to actually delete them, or just not include them in the estimation? If the former, simply put something like this as your sample: 1980 2010 if @crossid<>15 and @crossid<>7 Where 15 and 7 are the cross-sections you don't want. Many thanks, Gareth, for this insightful post. I would add one benefit to using a Panel instead of a Pool: when dealing with many cross sections, I find its much quicker to save your workfile in Panel format than in Pool format.
